18 Value of the Humphrey Seminar

Reflection Question: What was the most valuable element of the Humphrey seminar for you?

The opportunities to learn from the experiences of my peers. Our class discussion, presentations, and group work allowed me to interact with some of the most accomplished, ambitious and professional individuals I have ever had the opportunity to work with. Being exposed to their unique perspectives was an invaluable experience that will continue to help develop me as a leader as I continue to reflect on their wisdom. Emily Fritcke

I think that interacting with the fellows was a very valuable experience. Most of my fellow students share similar experiences to mine and it can seem like the world is a very homogenous place. Being in a learning environment with people of vastly different experiences made me see that it’s important to observe others in order to determine how best to interact with them. As an American, I think I tend to be more direct, which is not always the best approach. It’s important to remember that everyone is different and to be aware of and respectful of these differences. Darby Fitzgerald

The chance to interact with people I would otherwise never had the chance to meet, learning about new cultures and finding new ways to look at the world. Tayllor Lillestol

Simply being a part of an extraordinary mix of leaders. With half of the class being Barrett attaches and the other half being well-educated, prominent leaders from around the world, the group’s composition is rare and cherished. Shirin Ahmadpour

The interaction with the Humphrey Fellows. It is an invaluable opportunity for the attaches. Sophia Mayberry
